Trey began his funeral service career on March 23, 2008 at Jennings Funeral Home Heritage Chapel as a part-time funeral assistant. He previously worked for his family's car and rental businesses (Automax, Busmax, Sherold Salmon Autosuperstore) since he was in the 9th grade. He found his calling was to serve people. On August 14, 2008, Trey took a position as a full time apprentice funeral director and embalmer at Good Shepherd Funeral Home. After two years of being employed with Good Shepherd, Trey enrolled in Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service in Decatur. He graduated in the top 8 of his class, received the Academic Achievement Award, became a member of the National Mortician's Honor Society, Pi Sigma Eta, and was the first student to receive a perfect score on the final comprehensive exam in Funeral Service Management. Trey resigned from Good Shepherd Funeral Home on September 7, 2016 after 8 years of service to pursue his dream of owning his own funeral home. Trey received his Associate's Degree in May of 2014 in Business Administration and also became a Certified Crematory Operator. He is currently enrolled at Shorter University finishing up his Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration. Trey is married to the former Brooke Winslette. They have two English Springer Spaniels Jax and Jovi. Trey and Brooke welcomed their first child, a daughter, into the world on, October 21, 2017, little Miss Charleston “Charlie Grace” Salmon. Mrs. Brooke Winslette Salmon
Brooke is Trey's wife, the daughter of Keith and Angela Winslette. She is a 2001 graduate of Armuchee High School. Like her father and brother, Brooke is a Pharmacist. She completed her pre-pharmacy at Berry College in 2003. She graduated from Mercer University School of Pharmacy with a Doctorate of Pharmacy degree in 2007. Brooke is currently employed at her family’s locally owned and operated business, Winslette Pharmacy. Trey and Brooke have one daughter, Charleston “Charlie Grace” Salmon. In her spare time she will be helping Trey with visitations and funeral services. Brooke is here to serve and help anyone anyway she can.
Ray Miles compliments the Salmon Funeral Home Staff as a Licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer. Ray has been in the funeral service business for 22 years.He also began his service in the funeral industry with Jennings Funeral Home. He was an Honors graduate of Gupton-Jones College of Mortuary Science, where he was a member of the Pi Sigma Eta Fraternity, and served as the Chaplain. Ray is no stranger to the families of Rome and North Georgia, as he has served as manager and funeral director at the former Jennings Funeral Home and the former Fred Talley Funeral Home. In 2008, while serving as the General Manger of the Jennings Funeral Homes in Rome, he hired a young 21 year old man (Trey Salmon) as a part time funeral service apprentice and watched him grow into the position he is with his career today. While in Rome, he was a member of the Chamber of Commerce, serving as Chairman of the Small Business Action Council several times. Ray also hosted Hymns of the Christian Faith radio program and Gospel Music Homestyle TV program. He is an ordained minister and loves to travel with his wife of 43 years, Kay. Besides serving their local and church communities, Ray and Kay enjoy spending time with their 2 daughters, four granddaughters, and Ray’s ‘Little Man’ great-grandson. We are glad to have Ray join our team.
Marvin N. Richards Sr.
Marvin is a native Roman and a proud Mill Village Kid, having been raised at Celanese, now known as the Riverside Community. He is a graduate of East Rome High School and attended Dalton College, Brewton Parker College off campus center, Georgia Northwestern College and Gupton- Jones College of Funeral Service. Marvin was an Honor Graduate of Gupton-Jones and member of The National Morticians Honor Society Fraternity Pi Sigma Eta, he also holds a degree in Funeral Service Management. Marvin began his career in Funeral Service as Manager of Daniel's Funeral Home and served as General Manager of SCI Properties in Rome and Cartersville. He recently sold his interest in the Miller and Richards Funeral Home Oaknoll Chapel and has joined the staff at Salmon Funeral Home.
Marvin is married to his wife of 49 years, Judy Long Richards and they have three children, six grandchildren and one great-grandson.
Marvin is an active member of Sherwood Forest Baptist Church and has been active in the community throughout the years through Civic, Professional, Fraternal and Volunteer Organizations. He looks forward to the opportunity of serving our community, greeting old friends and acquaintances and making new ones. Salmon Funeral Home is honored to have Marvin join our team.
Sherold was born in Rome, Georgia in 1939. He graduated from Model High School in 1957. He had an agency with the Rome News Tribune until 1984. Sherold started selling previously owned vehicles out of his yard in 1959. From there he and his cousin, Warren Lindsey, started a small car lot called, Salmon and Lindsey Motor Co. on Shorter Avenue in 1962. Sherold opened Sherold Salmon Motor Company at, 506 Turner McCall Blvd. in 1968 and S&S Rental and Leasing in 1980. After acquiring additional property, he opened Sherold Salmon Auto Superstore in 1997. He has been selling cars for 57 years. Sherold has been married to the former Bonijean Lovett for 57 years. they have three children, Regina Ann Justice, Raymond "Ramey" Sherold Salmon, Jr., and David Lovett Salmon, all of Rome. Sherold enjoys collecting "Classic Cars." His collection has accumulated over 50 automobiles. He is an active member of Sherwood Forest Baptist Church. He is an active Deacon and a bus driver for the Awana Children's program on Wednesday evenings. His "hobby" is farming! He enjoys raising cattle, cutting and bailing hay! He enjoys meeting and greeting people wherever he goes. Sherold is here to serve you.
Wanda J. Rowell
A native of Walker County, Georgia, Wanda attended Cedartown High School, graduating from Coosa Valley Technical College in 2002 with an Accounting Diploma and from Floyd College in 2003 with an Associate Degree of Applied Science in Business/Accounting. Wanda is a member of the North Rome Church of God. Wanda has 2 children, Craig and Mark Rowell, 2 grandchildren, Leah and Benjamin "Ben" Rowell.
Wanda joined the staff of Salmon Funeral Home in October of 2016 and was previously employed by the former Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel Funeral Home where she began in April 1999. Wanda assists all families with filing insurance, veterans’ paperwork, etc. and whatever the families need. Wanda is here to assist you.
Wanda loves to read, cross stitch, walking, exercise, motorcycle riding, and spending time with her 2 grandchildren.
Everett is a native of Rome and Floyd County and a 1963 graduate of Armuchee High School. He joined the staff of Salmon Funeral Home in 2016. He previously worked for Jennings Oaknoll Chapel, Good Shepherd Funeral Home and was last employed by Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel Funeral Home where he began in 2010. Everett retired from General Electric of Rome in 1998 following 30 years of service. He is a member of the Armuchee Church of God. When Everett is not working he enjoys spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A native of Athens, (McMinn County), Tennessee, Marvin graduated from McMinn County High School and moved to Rome in 1958. Marvin retired from Bartow County Propane Company where he delivered gas.
He joined the staff of Salmon Funeral Home in October of 2016 and was previously employed by Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel Funeral Home where he began in April 2004 as a funeral assistant. Marvin is here to assist you.
Greg joined the staff of Salmon Funeral Home in, November of 2016, with a mission to serve. Greg is married to Bobbie S. Garrett, and together they have two children, Michael and Casey Garrett. Greg graduated from Auburn University with his B.S. degree in 1972. Greg was the former owner of Baskin Robbins in the old Riverbend Mall and Duffy’s Deli. He and his wife are members of First Presbyterian Church here in Rome. In his spare time he enjoys spending time with his seven grandchildren. Greg is here to serve you.
Vicky is a lifetime resident of Northwest Georgia, first in Bartow County, then moving to Floyd County in 2003 to be closer to her church and has been a Roman ever since. She started her college education with Georgia Highlands and then transferred to Shorter University finishing as an honor graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.
She is currently a Realtor with Ayers Realty, LLC assisting families and individuals with their real estate needs. She has many years of experience in business, product development, project management and contract negotiation with a Fortune 500 flooring company. She is very active in her church and assists with community outreach ministries with other organizations and churches. She served as a volunteer at Tellus Science Museum in Cartersville for two years. She has recently created a Friends Social Network to help adults connect, stay active, socialize and increase their circle of friends.
She enjoys spending time with her family and friends. She has a servant’s heart and is happiest when helping and serving others. Vicky is here to serve you.
